This is also a translation and its hard to know precisely the wording, but in this translation it is implicit that you are allowed to slap or cause pain to your wife (worse things have happened in the bedroom!) as long as you dont injure her, but in a country where spousal abuse is may be relatively common and accepted, a man saying 'Dont injure her and never in front of the kids' is a positive message.
